Background Information
| Personal History | Khalests parents met each other on the USS Morpheus. Savvic was the Head Nurse aboard the Starship, and A'trom being hot headed and quick to violence was a frequent patient. While treating a minor, but still profusely bleeding wound on the Klingons arm, the Vulcan woman made an attempt a joke, saying there were better ways to get her attention. This made A'trom smile and shake his head. And this started a long conversation involving battle scars and related stories, which actually caught Savvics attention. After the wound was properly treated, Savvic asked if A'trom would go get a coffee with her from the Canteen, and he could tell her more and she could share a few of her stories from her medical school days. He agreed, and they count this as their first date. After many solar cycles and...interesting nights together, they were wed in a traditional Klingon ceremony, and the marriage was consumed that night. Some time passed, and Savvic began to show signs of pregnancy. She didn't feel well and she couldn't get enough to eat. Testing herself, three separate tests proved positive. She showed A'trom the results and he was overcome with emotion, picking up his pregnant wife and hugging her tightly. Then realizing what he was doing, he set her down, not wanting to harm the child inside her. But could she perform her duties, while pregnant? Would her slight form be able to tolerate a pregnancy? They would also have to set up a nursery and so much more. All in due time, they agreed. The pregnancy proceeded, but Savvic showed complications: More nausea than was normal, complete loss of appetite, which was the opposite of how this began, and blood spotting. Concerned, she consulted a pregnancy specialist, leaving to her home planet to do so. Three days later, she boarded the Morpheus again, and told A'trom that the baby was alright, but this may be their one and only. He asked why, being concerned for his wife. She explained that her body wasn't compatible with pregnancy, and that this child was considered a fluke, but in a good way. The baby and she would survive, but for her sake, no more babies unless adopted. Though upset, A'trom understood. And after taking his anger out in a Holodeck battle program, he accepted this. Soon after, the baby was born. They named her Khalest T.; a combination of Klingon and Vulcan heritage, as their wedding had been. Khalest T. grew to be a happy, healthy girl, aboard the USS Morpheus. She had gained her mother's hair and eyes, and her father's proud ridges across her nose. But she also had her father's temper and her mother's sharp mind. She became interested in reading at a young age, having her mother read to her when she couldn't yet. As she grew older, she became more interested in Medicine, like her mother, and began to study Biology and Medicine, as a teenager. After she had passed the Education Simulators given to all children aboard the ship, she applied to go to medical school on the Vulcan Homeworld, as Savvic had done. Saying goodbye to her very emotional parents, she packed her bags and went off to study medicine. She attended Schola Medicinae for eight years, keeping in touch with her parents and the crew of the USS Morpheus, via Holographic messages on the semi-weekly basis. She still does this, even though she never returned to that ship after her studies, as she went directly to the Cygnus. |
