Which Way to Bajor?

Mission: Shoreleave

ON

Lisald smiled and shook his head at what he had just heard the Chief Science Officer say. "You know, sometimes I wonder just how in the hell you slipped through the Academy," the Bajoran stated good-naturedly, bumping the human's shoulder a bit.

Spangler rolled his eyes. 'Pfft. Academy.. walk in the park." He gestured vaguely at the office around them before shrugging, "Now this, somebody definitely screwed up giving me my own office." Albert sighed gently as he looked at the desk, wondering if it was too early for a drink.

Lisald laughed. "Hey man, no argument from me. Word on the decks is Bane has a few screws loose. You know how it is when you get command," Lisald stated, knowingly.

"No, I don't think I do." Albert glanced out the doorway to Lab 1. Several of his staff narrowly avoided eye contact. "I'm still struggling to get that damn spectrometer to do what I say, much less the department. The laboratory mice barely acknowledge me, and only when I feed the bastards." Albert looked back quickly to the Bajoran. "But eh.. don't tell the Captain about the mice. They're more mascots than anything."

The Bajoran Anthropologist nodded knowingly about that damned spectrometer. It had been giving him problems since he came aboard more than two years ago. Had it really been that long? "Lips are sealed. So," he said, pivoting back to the most interesting part of this whole conversation, "You were talking about beaches, babes and booze? Please, continue on that." Vaat's voice had gotten to nearly a whisper so the rest of the staff wouldn't hear what he was talking about.

"The three B's. The only B's I got in school, for what it's worth." Albert grinned in a distant manner before returning to Earth. Or, well.. not Earth, but you know what i mean. "You're the local boy, where we going?"

And there it was, the very thing he had been shaking his head about before. Lisald couldn't help but grin. The grin quickly faded when it was upon him to figure out where to go. "Al, come on. You know me better than that. Just because I am from here doesn't mean I know anything worth knowing like that. I didn't get B's in school, in class, or otherwise. Too much of a geek," he said, pointing at his own face to drive the point home.

Al nodded. "You are a massive nerd. This is a factual statement. I guess we just go to Bajor and figure it out. If I can make it Singapore on spring break without getting arrested, I can make it anywhere."

Vaat nodded with him. "Perfect! The southern hemisphere is in the middle of summer right now, so it would be best, I think, to try and go there. I'm not taking anything with me. I just need to change and I'll be ready. Wanna meet at the shuttle departure station on DS9 in half and hour?"

"Sure. Half hour." Not bringing a thing, Albert thought, this might be an interesting trip after all. "Ready.. break!"

OFF:

A hopeful return to form by a couple nerds;

LtJG Albert Spangler, Chief Science Officer

&

LtJG Lisald Vaat, Chairman of Calendars
