What's Up Doc?

Mission:
Stranded
Location: Main Sickay
Timeline: A couple of days prior to the Distress Call?
Ravi worked through her PaDDs for the morning and once she was done with all the current pile she looked around to see what she'd done with her Terran Tea with Oatmilk and saw instead the *other* pile of PaDDs that was looming on the far shelf.
"Oh NO!" she groaned softly to herself. ~and I JUST finished all of *that* pile.... she sighed deeply and resigned herself. ~I guess I *should* pick them off one by one and see if I can sneak up on them in stealth mode, so I can trick myself into getting them sorted.
Approaching the alternative pile of PaDDs Ravi pulled off the top three and set them on her own desk to make a start. It wasn't going to ever be a case that *ALL* the routine medicals were up to date as they renewed almost daily with new ones that had just elapsed but she was duty bound to get a grip on the backlog at least.
=^= Winters to Lieutenant Hartley =^= she sent out the first comms call.
"Hartley here, go ahead Doc," Christina replied from the engine room, as she was finishing the diagnostic on the warp core.
=^= Lieutenant, I'd like to fix an appointment for your routine medical catch up, if you're free soon? What would be a good time for you? =^= Ravi asked in a friendly manner.
Christina looked at her to do list. She hated medical check ups, but she never missed them, especially since she didn't want to wake up and find nanoprobes in her body again.
Of course that wasn't going to happen; Admiral Crusher had assured her personally that all the nanoprobes were destroyed after the Borg had been destroyed by Admiral Picard. But she still had the nightmares.
"Kayla, get started with the shield generator retuning," Christina said. "Doc, I'm coming up now if you're free," Christina replied.
=^= Well I am actually, Lieutenant, I'll see you shortly =^= Ravi answered, smiling. It was great that Christina had responded so positively and was coming in so promptly. Ravi wished all the crew would be so easily sorted out but a large proportion of them disliked their medicals. Ravi thought this over and decided to try to think of a way to make them more entertaining or at least less intimidating.
~hmmmmm!~
It didn't take too long for Christina to reach sickbay, and as she walked in, she made a beeline for the doctor. She had checked her profile, just to see who the CMO was, especially since the Doctor was her wife's boss.
"Reporting as requested, Doctor," Christina said, trying not to show her apprehension. It wasn't that she didn't like check ups, but she was still afraid that despite the personal assurances of Admiral Crusher, she would be told one day that there were still Borg Nanoprobes inside of her.
Ravi welcomed Christina and immediately offered her a bio-bed in a cubicle. She found that staff coming in for routine medicals were sometimes anxious for various reasons and not keeping them waiting around did seem to help.
"Would you like a drink?" she asked, as she held out her right arm to offer Christina a seat, initially on the end of the bed.
"Sure, I'll take a pineapple juice please," Christina replied, with a small smile.
Ravi went to the Replicator and ordered two pineapple juices, returning to sit to one side of where Christina was perched and handed one to the Chief Engineer.
"How are you keeping?" Ravi began as the tests went along and the two old friends caught up with their normal conversation as it worked its way through to a successful end and naturally, a satisfactory sign off, certifying the Chief Engineer to resume work for another year until next time.
"As busy as I can be. I'm not going to lie, I'm still having the nightmares, but they're somewhat under control," Christina replied. She felt comfortable talking to Ravi, more so than any counselor if anything, despite Ravi not being a counselor. But she cared about Christina, which was what mattered.
Ravi and Christina had a chat, some tea, a cake or two and chatted about all sorts of mutual memories and experiences they had both shared. Their pleasant conversation was nothing at all of a light on the upcoming nightmare of catastrophies that were awaiting just days away on the horizon, unseen and unanticipated, not to mention, unthinkable.
