Six Hours after Light Brigade

"Go ahead," Bane said, tapping his commbadge.

=/\=Sir, all personnel have been beamed off the Cygnus and are secured either on the Goddard or the Shenandoah.=/\=

Bane nodded. He had been standing in the center of his bridge. Over the last several hours, everyone had been beamed off the ship and onto the U.S.S. Goddard, captain by non other than a former Executive Officer of his, now-Captain Eric Larsen, or onto the U.S.S. Shenandoah. "Computer, power down all systems except the structural integrity field. Reroute all available power to the structural integrity field.

"Confirmed," chirruped the computer after several moments of grinding and buzzing. The lights went out with the exception of the emergency power lighting at the deck-level, bathing him in near-total darkness. "Structural integrity field is at 14.7 percent." Bane didn't like that at all, but he knew reinforcement fields had been placed all over the ship by the rescue crews so his ship would survive the rigors of war travel. It would have to do. "Ready to beam out," the Captain stated.

From outside, the Galaxy-class U.S.S. Shenandoah began to circle around, the battered, torn, beaten and darkened hull of the U.S.S. Cygnus captured by the formers tractor beam, following along at a slightly askew angle. Behind the Cygnus was the Goddard, following suit, towing the severed pod and nacelle that belonged to the Cygnus. Bane had been happy to learn there were two rescued souls from the Pod. Both were traumatized, but they would be fine.

A moment later, two of the three ships' nacelles glowed a bright blue, flashed white, then all three ships disappeared in a blink of light, headed for Starbase 375, where the Cygnus would be surveyed and put in for extensive repairs.

Plase knew there would be an inquiry, but he was prepared for that. HIs own ships logs, along with the scans both of the rescue ships gathered would defend his case. He was ready for it.

He was also ready for a meal, a shower and a clean uniform.
