Mission: Outbreak
Location: Research Bay, Sickbay

Delenna walked into her research lab to see the work on her microbial shields. They'd only put one set of level three shields around the bay and she was not happy about that. "I asked for double level 3 shields," she said, annoyed. "Get another set of shields set up NOW!"

"That would take a lot more power than can be provided," said the engineer.

"I gave shield specifications that would reduce the drain on power and from what i see here, this is not being done," replied Delenna who was now more than annoyed. "If you want to be subject to Thelusian Flu, that is fine, i will add you to a list of people who will be Guinea Pigs at the stage I need guinea pigs. Get a second level three shield where i indicated on the floor to my specifications now and adjust the shield harmonics for the first shield." She left the engineer to work, muttering profanities.

Christina had walked into the research lab as her engineer was essentially being yelled at by another officer. She was not happy.

"Hey," Christina demanded angrily, stepping in front of Delenna. "Who the hell do you think you are, ordering my engineers around about providing power, without speaking to me about it, and then threatening them? Give me one damned good reason why I don't have your ass tossed into the brig!" Christina demanded.

"As I said to your engineer, if you want to be exposed to Thelusian Flu that's fine but I don't so they specifications I gave need to be followed to the letter. this is not happening and no-one has discussed any changes with me before doing them, so your choice, Chief," Delenna replied back just as angrily.

"And no one has discussed shit all with me. If you want changes to happen on this ship, they go through me, but I promise you, if you threaten anyone of my team again, I'll be using your innards to decorate my god damned office," Christina replied, glaring at the woman.

"You may be the Chief Counselor, but when it comes to power requirements, alterations, modifications, or anything like that, I'm the one you talk to, and only when I've been briefed on what you need, and why you need it. You don't get to summon a random engineer, especially when they don't work on force field generation, but communication system repairs."

"Fine! but I gave everything i needed to the Captain and I am here with fuck all the show for giving that information to him," said Delenna calmly as she could because she was pissed off that no work had been done and she was hoping to get a bunch of work done before they departed DS9 and get her stuff out of DS9 cargo bay. "I also gave the specs to Elodin who was overseeing all this. He wouldn't let me until I had my physicals etc."

"I will not risk anyones life with this Thelusian Flu. I am working on a cure and research in how it affects all cells from all species." said Delenna, as she handed a specifications PaDD to Hartley. "You may need to speak with Elodin as this engineer was already here when I arrived."

"To replace a gel pack that was causing problems, not to work on whatever you wanted. You just assumed Ensign Knight was here to serve you on a whim, and the Ensign, being a decent engineer, and a good officer, obeyed a senior officer. Ensign Knight, did you replace the gel pack?" Christina asked.

"Yes ma'am," Ensign Knight replied.

"Good, get back to engineering," Christina ordered. The Ensign flashed her a grateful look and left, as Christina looked over the PaDD. "So if I understand this, you need a second set of shield emitters, something that can only be approved by myself since I am the Chief Engineer, and you think you can order my Engineers around like they belong to you?" Christina asked, glaring at Delenna still.

"I also assumed that you had the details already and it either a) would be done; or b) discuss with me as to how we could improve those specifications. Nothing of that happened so I thought it was safe to assume everything I requested was done," still also glaring at Hartley as she could glare at anyone quite well. "Up to this morning, I couldn't give anyone any orders to get anything done, not even you until I was cleared for duty."

"Are we going to continue this glaring competition or are we going to get some work done? I can assist because I was a know it all at the Academy and if it was there to learn, I learnt it," said Delenna.

"Doesn't make you an engineer," Christina replied. "And it doesn't give you the right to try and do my damned job. If you want someone who'll pander to you and do everything you tell them to do, then go into command, and maybe you'll be a Captain. Until then, I give the orders here, especially when it comes to doing anything like this. And there's a saying you need to know; Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups," Christina replied.

"Right now, my teams are busy, and they can get to this in maybe six days," Christina replied. "You want it sooner, get your head out of your damned ass, and tell me why it's so damned important, and maybe see if you can vomit up an apology of some kind for being a dick."

"If you knew my history in Starfleet, you probably wouldn't believe it, so if my head is up my arse, it's probably for a reason. I was told this had been done and yeah okay, I probably reacted the wrong way. It is important for saving lives who especially don't have transporter technology to find a cure for Thelusian Flu. I hope that I can also find a one cure for all species against this terrible disease and I am working on a way for the original superchildren to live a normal life and eventually die," said Delenna. "How can I go wrong with you watching what I do?"

"And if you knew mine, you'd probably show respect. Whilst I don't have it anymore, my dick is still bigger than yours, so don't try acting like you're better than me. Newsflash; you're not. This ship, I helped refit it, and me and my father designed the newest generation of Impulse Engines, so believe me when I say I'm not impressed by you," Christina replied. "Now, you want to cure the Thelusian Flu? Fine. No idea what you mean by Superchildren, but I'm not a doctor, I leave that to my wife," Christina said, making some notes on the PaDD.

"So what you need is two shield emitters, so you can have extra protection, as well as a decontamination zone should you need it," Christina said, looking at the specs. "Hartley to Engineering, beam me a type three internal shield emitter, as well as a type four decon scanner," Christina ordered, after tapping her comm. badge. "I also need team three in the primary Research Bay, now."

"On our way, Chief" came the reply, as Christina immediately set to work pulling off one of the wall panels. "Computer, shut down primary and secondary power to Research Bay junction five alpha," she added.

The lights on the wall shut down, as the shield emitter was beamed in, just as several engineers entered the research bay.

"Alright Mary, Louisa, let's flush the power conduit, then get it off so we can install this emitter," Christina ordered. "Hank, pull up the floor panel there, and install the decon sensor, our Chief Counselor is going to be working with biohazardous materials," Christina said, as Mary and Louisa were already following the orders Christina gave.

It took a very short time to install the emitter and sensor, and as Christina closed the wall panel, she ran a quick scan, seeing green lights across the board.

"Good job guys, get back to engineering, and track down the problem with the gel packs," Christina said. The three smiled and nodded, leaving with the tool kits.

Christina then looked at Delenna. "You want shit done around here, that's how you talk to people. I don't know where you were when they taught respect at the academy, but you clearly missed the damned class. You ever want anything again, you put in an official request with me, is that clear?" Christina demanded.

"Yes, boss." replied Delenna. She could now get the stuff in DS9 cargo bay. This had taken too long to get sorted from start to finish. Now she could get started on the research before the Cygnus left for duty.

Christina nodded; at least the woman now understood how things worked on a ship. "Good. If you have an emergency to deal with in terms of equipment, label it as an emergency, and I'll handle it," Christina said, before grabbing her kit and leaving the research bay. She was still a little annoyed by the woman, but she also made a mental note to look into who she was, and why she felt she had been able to order Christina's people around.

Delenna went off to get her samples etc from DS9 cargo bay now that everything was sorted. The rest she would do later.
