Leaving Bast and Larsen chatting, Bane made his way over to Dr. Winters and Lieutenant Lisald. He noticed they were smiling at each other, Lisald chattering away at her and pointing excitedly at her new pip. As he approached, he heard the other Bajoran tell her that she had earned it.

"I couldn't agree more. Plus, this is what Dr. Elodin wanted, for you to take over. He had a lot of respect and admiration for you, Ravi. And so do I. Congratulations on your double promotion!

Ravi was SO tired but this was exciting and she was SO relieved to see the CO back on board too. "Thank you Sir." she responded, her cheeks just taking on a soft pink. She had heard a rumour that Elodin Devan, her former boss, had stayed on the planet and she was worried about why.

"May I ask a personal question please Sir?" she asked Bane.

Bane smiled, thinking he knew the question. "Of course!" What followed was not the question he thought she was going to ask.

"I was wondering if Dr. Elodin was detained on the planet because he took responsibility for the deaths? That would explain why the Tashi wouldn't see me when I asked for an audience to do the same?"

"No, of course not. Without getting too deep into his personal matters, he had a visit from the Prophets about it. He cleared his stay with the government. For the record, I tried to surrender myself, too, but they refused. They didn't want to punish anyone; that is not their way." Plase smiled. "He has been placed on temporary duty to Antioch III as detached service until further notice. It is very kind of you to be so concerned for him and his freedom and safety, Dr. Winters." Bane was truly impressed.

"He's my boss....." she said, looking almost confused, as if that completely explained every concern she could possibly have and in such an obvious way that she didn't understand why it wasn't totally a given.

Plase looked over at Vaat, then back to Ravi. "Not anymore he isn't. Your boss is now over there," he said, pointing at Lieutenant Commander Bast. "You are now the boss of Sickbay and the whole Medical Department."

Ravi frowned. "Yes but he WAS and he's still .... well, you know what I mean. I'm a very loyal person and if someone wins my respect then it comes in a package with my desire to get into their corner and be loyal to them..... like with you.. Sir." she wasn't as clear as she wanted to be but she knew she was going to have to be patient with herself and her total recovery. This mind fog was very annoying though, she couldn't express herself well and it wasn't like her.

~Oh well, life goes on!~ she thought. ~Thankfully, in my case!~ she added silently inside her head and shrugged, her cheeks showing a small blush.

Bane patted her on the shoulder. "There is nothing wrong at all at being loyal to someone. I am still loyal to Captain Montgomery. He was my second Captain when I was a junior officer, and I ended up being his Executive Officer for many, many years. I still think of him often, and even wonder from time to time, 'What would Soren Gadd Montgomery do?"

"I know, right?" she replied without thinking and then remembered with a start who she was talking to. "er.... SIR" she added smartly.

"Again, congratulations on your promotion, Doctor. I am beyond thrilled that you are taking the position. I've heard so many wonderful things about you, about your caring nature and your compassion. I know my health, and the health of all the members of this crew, are in exceptional hands."

Ravi blushed but this time a full flush of pleasure at the compliments. "Thank you Sir, that's kind of you, I'll do my best, I can assure you Captain - I have large footsteps to walk in!"

Plase nodded, respecting the sentiment. "One thing I've learned, being in command. You can never walk in someones footsteps. Walk in yours. You will do wonderful. You have the fullest support of the command team and all the rest of the Department Heads, and if I were a betting man, would bet you have the support of the whole crew. I better get over there and congratulate Lieutenant Hartley for her award. Doctor, Lieutenant," he said, excusing himself.

Ravi was still blushing. So much support and kind positivity from the CO. She was over the moon to have been given so much (not to mention her life back from the Prophets too). She beamed at Vaat, so happy that he too was here with her. It made it all worth every moment. "That was kind of him" she commented rhetorically, looking down modestly, fingering her new pip and feeling a long way out of her comfort zone here in the promotion lights with the others who had been honoured with promotions and praise. "It all seems surreal" she added very quietly and looked up at Lisald. "Does it to you?"

"That he spoke to me? Absolutely," said Lisald. For reasons lost on Lisald, he and the Captain did not always (almost never) see eye to eye, hard as he tried. "That you have earned this promotion? Not even in the slightest. I've always maintained that you deserve nothing but the very best. I am so very proud of you, Ravi. Er, ma'am," he teased, a slight smile appearing on the right side of his mouth.

"Ma'am eh?" a mischievous sparkle lit Ravi's eyes for the first time in many days. "Thanks though. I'm pretty proud of myself, if I'm honest" she teased. She wondered if that were actually true and decided that it was. She instinctively held her head higher and beamed at him again.

"Hmmmm..... Ma'am? I think I'm having that put on a coffee mug and keeping it in the kitchen for you to make me my tea in!" she went on beaming and joking with him. Relieved and very happy to be here with him.

"Seriously though..... thanks for being here with me today. I was not sure I could do it..... but you made it much better so thank you." she told him quietly, almost conspiratorially.

Lisald smiled back at her, seeing for the first time since just before she beamed down to Antioch III the Ravi he knew and cared deeply for. "I wouldn't miss this for all the hasperat in Dakkur!"
