Mission Log
Delenna Morak

Delenna had been bored while on Medical leave and she needed something else to do. She passed her fighter pilot course and she was already proficient in Diplomatics. She spoke to the Admirals about doing some assignments and they sent her on the Ares to mediate on a Colonial Planet.

====/\ At the Colonial Planet /\======
Ablative Armour was losing power. Shields were at 60%. Weapons were depleting and the cloaking device was offline.
There wasn't any need for a Counsellor when you were fighting for your life as well as all that of the colony that was trying to escape the attackers, that had been harassing the colonists for years. Taking food, water and supplies that the colonists had collected, made and grew themselves, leaving them with nothing.
Delenna had beamed down to the colony planet with an away team, straight into the middle of a fire fight. She couldn't tell who the colonists were and who were the attackers, "Set phasers to stun." she ordered. "We will not kill anyone." Everyone set their phasers to stun and as Delenna looked up she was shot and sent flying into the air. She landed with a thud, a spike into her leg and knocked unconscious.

She later awoke in a darkly lit cave. People bustling about. She lifted her head up and was met with a searing sharp pain emanating from her head. She sat up, and agonising pain seared through her body.
One of the colonists walked over to Delenna, "Hey, take it easy. That shot did a number on you," she said, caringly.
"I am a Starfleet Officer, Starfleet doesn't do easy," wheezed Delenna. "Lieutenant Delenna Morak of the USS Ares. We came to help"
"Well let us help you."
"Who shot me?" asked Delenna with a wheeze.
"The attackers. We don't know what they look like, but they attack us for food, supplies and water every month. They take everything. We want out but the attackers have ships in orbit. We try to evacuate but the attackers destroy the ships."
"Well we can help with that. Where is the rest of my team?"
"I am afraid they were killed by the attackers," said the colonist. "I am sorry, I have not introduced myself, my name is Layara."
"Layara!" shouted someone from the other room. "We don't tell strangers who we are."
"Lieutenant Delenna Morak of the USS Ares. We intercepted a distress beacon about 4 lightyears from here. I was sent with a team to help," Delenna said confidently with a wheeze and standing up.
"Colonel Past'al. I don't have time to speak to you nor do I care to," said Past'al. "I have people to evacuate with no protection."
"No, you have protection! You just believe that you don't. You tell me when you are launching your transport and the USS Ares will defend it," replied Delenna, sternly. "I got shot by some bad-ass weapon from your enemies coming here and I am not leaving until you and your people are out of here."
Past'al looked at Delenna, stepped up and tried to intimidate her but even injured she was not backing down. She stood as "tall" as he did and stayed there. "Lieutenant Morak, you'd make a good soldier. Welcome to the Colony. I have never met someone outside of this hell hole with as much balls."
"Unfortunately, Colonel, I have a job. My main job is Chief Counsellor but in battle there is not much need for one," smiled Delenna.
Past'al smiled at what Delenna said. They were standing on the balcony to the flight deck. Delenna looked out at all the transport ships and noted that there were fighters too. "Colonel, you said you had no protection, but yet you have fighter crafts."
"They are dead, we can't fix the problems," replied Past'al bleakly.
"What are the problems?"
"No fuel. They take dilithium like your warp core and we have none."
"That's it?" exclaimed Delenna. "The Ares has got tonnes of the stuff. We can create mini warp cores and transfer dilithium into the mini warp cores."
"You can do that."
"Yes." She tapped her commbadge and it didn’t chirp the same way it does when it connects.
"We block communications so moles can’t communicate."
"If you have a mole in here. They will find a way to communicate," informed Delenna. Past'al was silent. "May I communicate with my ship? We need dilithium to get the mini-warp cores up and running."
"Yes, we have a secure line. Here use this," said Past'al.
Delenna sensed Past'al was stressed and worried. "We will get your people of this planet, Colonel." She took the communicator from Past’al and pressed a few buttons. "Morak to Ares, can you hear me?"
"Loud and Clear, what your status?" sounded the commanding voice of the captain.
"My team dead. I am injured but the colonists have healed me well," replied Delenna. "I am looking at near 500,000, people, 200 transport ships, 200 dead in the water fighters without dilithium."
"Understood. Anything we can do?"
"What is the status of the attackers? According to the colonists, they have ships in orbit...."
"Not anymore, Lieutenant. We have dealt with them. The attacker ships are nothing compared to what we have, even if they were equally technological. We detect more of the attackers heading this way," interrupted the captain.
"I need an engineer team to create 200 mini-warp cores with dilithium for the 200 fighters."
"You got it, sending them now," said the captain. "and Lieutenant, you have 15 hours to evacuate. Ares out."
Turning to Past'al, "We have 15 hours to get everyone out. I say we should be ready in 10 hours in case of any problems.
"Agreed. Ever flown a fighter, lieutenant?"
"Yes, in fact I have."

The engineer crew arrived with the equipment to make the mini warp cores, upgrade the weapons and shields of the fighters, on the flight deck. Delenna climbed down the ladder to greet them, "Lt. Nars, welcome to the colony. Do you know what we need to do?"
"Yes, sir. Mini warp cores in 15 hours but I thought we'd do one better and upgrade the shields and weapons as well in that time," replied Nars.
"I want it done in 10 hours. Gives us some room if things go wrong and to evac," stated Delenna.
Turning to the team, he called out "Alright you heard the lady. We got 10 hours to get everything fix and everyone off the planet." They all nod and set to work.

Delenna climbed back up the ladder and headed back to her bed in the medical bay. She really hurt by this point; She really wished she listened to her body when it would tell her not to get up when injured, but she is rubbish at staying in one place while she is awake.
Past'al followed behind her, "Layara, give Lt. Morak some pain relief. The really good stuff," he said with a stern order in his voice. "Get some rest, Lieutenant. You are going to need it. I'll wake you up in six hours."
"Coffee, 2 sugars, and milk or your equivalent," smiled Delenna, with a sarcastic tone. "Yes, sir."
Layara had been to get "the really good stuff" pain relief while they had been talking and administered some to Delenna. It was an almost instant relief. Delenna closed her eyes and tuned out all the sounds around her.

======/\ Later on /\======
BANG! CRASH!

Delenna awoke to chaos around her. "REPORT!" she barked as she jumped from her bed, just as a huge piece of the cave crashed down on to it.
"Colonel is dead. Your team got everything installed with us just before the attackers bombarded the mountain with fire power to lure us out," replied the male colonist, lowering his voice as the barrage of weapons stopped, but there was other weapons fire and explosions. "What is going on up there?"
"Never mind, Soldier. Get all civilians to the transports and get them in the air!" commanded Delenna. "Any fighter pilots need to get to their ships and protect those transports."
"Yes, sir!"
Delenna turned round to the people behind her, "We will get out of this. They have not won and they will not. Get everything needed on the transports and get all the patients onboard. Get as many people onto transports as you can. Go over capacity if you have too. Women and Children and disabled first."
"Yes, sir."

Delenna left the medical bay and ran to the flight deck. She found a communication system there for throughout the cave and outside. She used the system to speak to the colonists. "Alliance Colonists, I am Lieutenant Delenna Morak of the USS Ares. Take only essential items and children can have one comfort teddy bear or toy to take with them. Get to the transports quickly and orderly. Panic and this will delay us further. We will get you all out of here safely. Women and children, disabled people on the transports; gentlemen if you can fly a fighter please do so."

All the people responded to Delenna's orders.

Delenna then looked at the system and noted that the communication jam was deactivated. She tapped her commbadge, "Morak to Ares, Situation report, please?"
"The attackers on the planet are dealt with. You have 8 hours to evac," said the captain.
"We are evacuating now, captain. Keep an eye out for the transports. I'll be in one of the fighters," replied Delenna.
"Understood. Good luck."

Delenna ran to the nearest fighter and got in it. Strangely it was aptly named with a name she hadn't used in years. The call sign was because when she was young child, she'd visit her grandparents and they were fighter pilots but she got on with everyone on base but some thought she was cold-hearted or had a "Black Heart". In the fighter squad, she hadn't been given one. She hadn't flown a fighter in years, but she flicked everything on without firing a hole in the cave and lifted off the ground, hovered and then turned to see where the transports were in taking off. Fifty full transports had already left the cave. Soldiers were getting into fighters and taking off. Delenna stayed where she was, until all the transports were full and taking off.

One problem, there wasn't enough transports. 500,000 people, 200 civilian transport ships, and 2000 people on each transport, plus all medical equipment on each transport. "Gentlemen, follow Lt. Nars to the surface - i'll cover you in the fighter. Get back to the ship," ordered Delenna.
"Yes, sir."

Delenna sat back down in her fighter and took auto-pilot off. She headed out of the cave and found the top of the mountain and waited for Lt. Nars and the near 100,000 people to appear. They did and moved away from the cave for Ares to beam them out.

"Nars to Ares, we need beam out now," he said.
"We can only take 20 at a time," came the voice of the transporter room crewman.
Delenna tapped into the conversation, "Just do it!"
"Ares to Morak, We are out of time! The attackers will be here in 30 minutes," said the captain.
"Morak here. We still have people to evacuate. All fighters are in the air and they can take some of the heat," she replied to the captain. She switched her fighter comm system on and spoke to the fighters. "Bravo Team and Gamma Team, fly to the Ares and cover her while they beam up the rest of the civilians. Alpha Team and Delta Team cover the Transports. GO!
"Yes, Sir."
The fighters departed. Two teams to the Ares and two to the convoy of transports. Delenna engaged her weapons and kept watch over the beam out. All the ships had left the cave, it was now a mission to get the beam out evacuees out without anyone dying.
------
The attackers arrived hot on time. "Ok, people. Boggies inbound!" she called shooting each and every ship down and in its weak spot for instant take down. Some would say that it was "Black Hearted" of her to do that but these attackers weren't up for negotiating for anything. The seemed to be as Black Hearted as she was.

The Last of the evacuees shimmered out of view and Delenna ascended into space. The attackers following. A bright Orange light beam streamed passed her sparing inches. "Careful, Ares. You nearly took me out," she said.
"Sorry," said the sheepish tactical officer.
"No worries. Just be careful," she said. Changing tone, "Ok let's get out of here with the transports!"
"Agreed." piped the captain's voice over the comms. "There is a non-inhabited planet 15 lightyears from here...."
"I suggest we fall to a planet nearer than 15 years lightyears, sir," interrupted Delenna. "There is a planet about two lightyears from here, with an asteroid belt. I suggest we get some of the fighters onboard the Ares and work shifts til we get to the other planet."
"Good thinking, lieutenant," wheezed the captain as he got blasted out of his chair. "Take the lead."
She didn't even acknowledge the captain on this "All ships follow me. All fighters cover the transport ships - Ares can look after herself," she ordered.

The transport ships all maneuvered to follow Delenna to the asteroid field 2 lightyears from their position, fighters maneuvered to cover all sides of the transport ships, with the Ares bringing up the rear.
