Mission:
Enigma Variations
Location: Cargo Bay 3
ON
Cargo Bay 3
USS Cygnus
Fifteen minutes ago, word came in from the Executive Officer Lieutenant Commander Temerant Bast, through her immediate superior and Chief Operations Officer Lieutenant Commander Stovek that Ensign Veenak needed to report to Cargo Bay Three and begin special preparations.
"What kind of preparations, sir?" she had asked. The response given was that more information would be available soon, but to clear away substantial space in the very center of the room and await further instructions.
'Fair enough,' the Romulan Starfleet Ensign thought. It wasn't her place to question. The fact that she had asked already was far and away beyond what her upbringing in the former Romulan Star Empire had taught her, and a bit over the line for what her Federation and Starfleet training had taught her.
And so she had made her way from the Operations Division down to Cargo Bay 3. Admittedly, this had been the first time she had been in here since the Commonwealth mission, the one where they actually battled, and defeated, a Crystalline Entity. It was during that mission that the ships former Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander Larsen, had led an away team down to what was deemed the Capital planet (much like Romulus was for the Star Empire) and had found the planet completely deserted of all living organisms, all the way down to the micro-organisms in the soil. It wasn't until much later, after a great deal of artifacts had been transported up from the surface, or brought up in shuttles that the Away Team had finally zeroed in on what had happened to the planet. Since then, most of those artifacts remained in Cargo Bay III, ready to be transported to a museum somewhere in the Federation for further study, catalogue, and eventually, display.
That is what Veenak walked into, was a cargo bay nearly chock full of containers, crates, dirt and dust. Sighing, she stepped over to the replicator and requisitioned a PADD. She first needed to catalogue everything in this room, then, judging from the size of the room and the material in it, move things to different cargo bays or dedicated storage areas in the massive ship. She cocked her head to the left a bit, then tapped her commbadge. She had just had the genius idea, and while she was just a lowly Ensign, she was still higher-ranking than every single one of the enlisted people in her department. "Ensign Veenak to Chief Ng."
An instant later, a woman with a decidedly thick accent answered. "Go 'hed, En-sign Veenak," came the response.
"Chief, please gather a detail of ten plus you and report to Cargo Bay III. We have some work to do, straight from the XO."
"Aye, En-sign. "We 'ill be der in ten minoots," she said.
"Very well. Veenak out." Veenak smiled at herself and her genius. She had been in Starfleet for maybe a year. This was the first time she had used the authority vested in her to lead people. She felt good about this, and looked forward to additional orders from either Lieutenant Commander Stovek, or Lieutenant Commander Bast.
Plus, she sorta already looked forward to telling Lisald and Roberts about this. Roberts especially would be really jealous.
In the meantime, she could get started on the items in here, and have a good idea where to direct her team, once they arrived.
