Mission: The Festival of Unity
Location: Conference Room, Starbase 375

ON:

It had already been two weeks since the USS Cygnus had been towed back to Starbase 375, crippled, heavily damaged and evacuated. The crew had been transferred to several rescue ships, including the U.S.S. Goddard under the command of Bane's former Executive Officer, Captain Larsen, for the return trip back to safe harbor. It had been determined that the Cygnus was unsafe to continue to be occupied during the rigors of faster-than-light travel.

Beaten and battered, the crew had rebounded quickly. Most had been pressed into service working on cleaning up the debris that littered their ship in preparation for repairing, refitting and a major overhaul that was long overdue for their ship. During their off hours and rotations out of duty, most had explored first Starbase 375, then later, started exploring the planet of Calisto. Bane and crew were honored to also have been given a large neighborhood to settle into, as the starbase and planet would be their new port of calling, once the ship was repaired.

Due to the strong ties between the Federation and the primary city on Calisto, Elysia, the Primarch had reached out to ask for assistance after a major storm had caused significant damage to infrastructure, buildings and power distribution. The task had befallen the crew of the Cygnus by their commanding officer, Admiral Savok to help, and so Bane had called his senior staff to a meeting to appraise them of the situation and issue orders.

"I haven't personally been down there to see the damage," Bane continued, "But I did speak with the Primarch. Apparently it is pretty bad. They have only a few days before their festival. Already they have deployed 100% of their emergency responders, first responders and repair crews, but I am told that is a long way from being enough. To that end, we get to get down there and help out. This will be a full effort, 100% of our resources and manpower, so each of you will have to coordinate with your divisions and work with the elected leadership in Elysia to deploy your people."

Plase picked up the PADD in front of him and tapped it, the words written on there scrolling slowly.

"Commander Bast, I want you and your team to work on repairing the damage to the festival infrastructure. Signs, paths, lighting, whatever else the Elysians need. You will also be my eyes and ears on Elysia, Commander. I will be here coordinating everything from up here."

Bane looked from Bast to Stovek. "Commander Stovek, we cannot have another storm come through like this ever again. Please lead your team to repair and upgrade the atmospheric stabilizers across the planet. It's a big job, but I am confident you can do this. I think Ensign's Chell and Veenak would enjoy the chance to spread their wings, too. The logistics, from food to sanitation to crowd control will also need to be looked into and evaluated based on what is now available, and what will be available in a few days after all our efforts. This festival must go off without a hitch."

The Captain then looked to his feline-descended friend. "Lieutenant Seitha, your primary concern will be security and safety while things get back in order. We have heard of some small-time looting, graffiti, and general disturbances, nothing serious. But with the timing and the failure of the local government being able to handle this internally, you'll need to navigate security and the political tensions between the locals there. I do not envy your task," he said, a smile on his face. "Take Crewman Chaluk with you. I hear reports he did some good during the crisis recently," Bane said, referring to when the ship was crippled, "He could use the exposure to you, and to develop his skills."

"Counselor Morak, you and your staff will be working with the leaders on the planet. There has been some disputes between the Oracles and the population, and between each other. This trade agreement that is due to be signed at the culmination of this festival is critical to Federation interest in this entire region of space, so you will need to smooth all the feathers and help iron out all the details and fill in all the cracks that have been shown due to this natural disaster."

The Captain then looked to the Chief Medical Officer. "Dr. Winters, you and your staff will need to be deployed to the various medical centers in each of the different sections of the city. A lot of people were hurt, and many more are in need of basic comforts such as food and clean water. There is also the threat of disease spreading, so do everything you can to help. Nothing is off limits and every advantage we have should be used.

"Lieutenant Ahmad, your task is going to be doubly hard. In addition to working with the shipyard to get our ship repaired, your teams will also need to be rotated planetside. Much of their technological infrastructure was damaged during the electric and wind storms. In short, you and your staff will have to be in two places at once, both on our ship effecting repairs and upgrades with the shipyard staff, and on the planet helping them repair whatever it is they need repaired with their own engineering staffs. You and your teams will be stretched, as you will need to be everywhere, all the time. I think your first order of business should be reestablishing communications arrays and equipment, then going from there. I have faith in you. You got this."

Captain Bane sat the PADD down and looked around. "This is going to be a huge task. We only have a few days to get it all done. Pull whatever resources you need, use whatever manpower you can get your hands on. And, we cannot slack back on our duties to our ship, either. All of us are going to be tired. We are going to be cranky. We are going to get dirty. But we will rise to this challenge, like we always do, and we will make it work. Lets kick a chicken. Dismissed." Bane watched as everyone stood and filed out, each of them eager to get to work. It was good to have something to do again, and he knew they would excel.
