"Why are we both in our underwear and why is it so hot in here?" #Ravi# asked, trying to work out what was going on.
Continued:
Caj, who was staring at the wall with his head tilted, was not really listening. He was focusing on the Equation on the wall. He picked up a marker pen from the floor and started crossing out numbers and adding formula to the wall. "What....." he said only half listening. The formula seemed to be about time dilation around black holes.
Pulling on a familiar looking dress from a nearby chair, Ravi looked around blearily. "What is all that on the wall. Did we do that? There's going to be so much trouble. Will it come off?" She had missed the fact that it had something special in its content, just that it was all over the wall.
It then occurred to her slowly that Caj was adding to it. She couldn't resist the curiousity she felt, vaguely remembering a blurry vision of having done that herself somewhen - was it last night? She frowned as she tried to concentrate and shook her head to try to clarify but ended up having to hold her own forehead as the room spun.
"What the heck happened?" she asked?
Caj's head to was feeling very sore. The original adrenalin hit was clearing, replaced with the feeling of being a walking-dead zombie. He dropped the pen and ran to the bathroom as the contents of his stomach began their journey back out to the open the wrong way round.
The sound of Caj's suffering almost brought a sympathetic gag to Ravi's throat too so she took another look at the wall, hoping to stave off the sickness with a mental diversion but it didn't help so she lay back down and covered her head with the rug as well as the rest of her.
The heat in the room was quite tropical and there was condensation on the ceiling that had begun to run down the walls, endangering the formulation written up there. Something possessive told Ravi to try to save it but it was all too much effort.
"Computer" she tried to bark out an order but her throat put up the kind of resistance that her Bajoran direct family had done against their Cardassian invaders - also direct family to her - something that she always found contradictory but yet by habit, perfectly normal. She was a living conundrum but it didn't usually hurt.......
Reaching around for a medcorder, Ravi couldn't initially find one so she demanded of the computer that it change the environmental settings back to normal and that it also run a medical diagnostic on herself and .... who was that guy? She knew him.... what was his name?
The computer replied with a blast of cooling air which was a bit of a shock and a whole biological analysis of what her cells were made of. She was too confused at first but she managed to correct what she had asked for by way of an "analysis" and got a proper read out on the state she was in.
Sitting there, rug wrapped closer as the temperature dropped around her, Ravi's addled brain struggled with the most basic facts that she would normally have assessed for herself. She would have shaken her head to try to clear her thoughts and reset but subconsciously she just KNEW that would hurt SO much so she resisted the urge and tried to concentrate.
~Perhaps a drink would help. No! A drink of WATER! Oh, that, yes okay then.~ She got up, cover around her and went cautiously to the replicator, obtained the water to drink and sat back down to sip at it gently. Her medical brain struggled to get to grips with what had happened last night and what was physically affecting her now.
Caj in an attempt to save a little more of his dignity came out the bathroom wrapped in a towel.
