Mission: The Festival of Unity
Location: Starbase 375 Main Sick Bay
Timeline: After both 'Ruins in a Storm' & 'Medical Relief'

::ON::

Caj had followed the Captains ordered and beamed directly to the Starbase sickbay, after Caj, the Captain and other 'survivors' had taken refuge in some ancient planetary ruins. Caj's brain was racing as the matter energy beam transported them into sickbay and medical personnel began their triaging. Still soaked through in Hawai'ian shirt and board shorts Caj let himself be guided by a nurse. But soon found himself drifting away from the rest of the group. He still had a concussion and what he reckoned was a broken rib. But his brain was going haywire from the readings he had taken on the planted with the tricorder.

"Weather satellites do not cause storms like that. Period. End of. There are an obscene amount of safety protocols to stop that from happening..." said Caj to himself outload to the wall in front him. "Could it of been a natural phenomena..." Caj crossed his arms as he continued to talk to the wall "Not bloody likely. It had developed waaaaaaay to quickly and their had been no low pressure area to draw warm air into....though you are presuming standard M class metrological data there Caj...."

Ravi was doing some regenerative repairs for another patient when she heard yet another new incoming transporter arrival happening. She knew she had the ACMO back with her by now and Ben as well not to mention Khalest T too so she was relaxed in the knowledge that whoever it was would be taken good care of. If it were to be an emergency she would be called at once but her comm badge stayed silent so she knew not to rush out. Going back to her work, she carried on and as she did so, she began to hear a familiar voice.

At first, the sound of Caj, chattering away about science made her smile affectionately, a little chuckle from her causing her current patient to give her an odd look. Ravi blushed slightly, shrugged and went back to her regeneration.

After a while however, Ravi got the feeling that all was not right. An instinct? A flash of experience? An empathy? Something told her to take a closer look and so as soon as she got to the next rest point she settled her patient with instructions to rest for 10 minutes to get the best of her treatment and handed them over to Ben, asking him to see the patient rested and then to assess how the work was going before discussing with herself how much more to do today or whether to stop until tomorrow so a full rest under light sedation was called for?

As Ben nodded at his instructions and made the patient more comfortable with plumped up pillows and a warm drink, Ravi went to see Caj and found him talking to a wall, wrapped in a towelling Sickbay robe, OVER his wet clothes.

She approached him and gently sidled up to stand beside him staring at the wall as well. With her softest tone, she almost whispered to him in a conspiratorial way and said.

"Hey you! Welcome to my sickbay" She shifted her weight and turned towards him as he looked up.

"Lucky you don't have any marker pens here, or I might have to get my walls redecorated after you've covered it with equations." she teased very gently, smiling widely at him and placing her hand on his shoulder in a comfortable, reassuring way.

"I take it you got caught in that storm...." it was a rhetorical question.

"Ravi!" shouted Caj in both excitement and relief to see that she was ok. Before he realised what he was doing, and being caught in the moment Caj quickly, though unsteadily pulled Ravi closer and kissed her briefly on the lips and then gave her a hug. "Gods its a relief to see you well." But relief quickly turned to fatigue as Caj's body caught up with him suddenly, and deciding that is was finally safe in Ravi's arms, Caj's leg gave out in exhaustion and he began to fall to the floor.

Grunting softly as Caj's weight began to pull at her own body and threatened to take her down with him, Ravi struggled to hold him up but fortunately Kensington had spotted the situation as it unfolded and was near by to grab Ravi and support her, thus keeping both the CMO and her patient up long enough to swap.

Ravi let her Surgeon take Caj and asked him to bring the Ensign to a bed for assessment. He obliged and put Caj down on a biobed in a nearby cubicle.

Caj opened one eye and it looked eccentrically around the room. He recognised the sick bay from his medical check up. “I appear to be in sick bay…..when did I get here?”

"Just a few hours ago" Ravi answered. She was working on some computer based data at the end of his cubicle, keeping a close eye on him whilst still working and still available to the rest of the staff and patients.

Caj touch his lips gently with one hand “Did someone kiss me…..did I miss an opportunity for mouth to mouth ma’am” Ravi was in uniform and was of a higher rank so Caj, both out of respect, and not to mention that Caj had a thing for strong women, used the term ma’am.

"You didn't miss an opportunity for kissing the auto-recovery-cardio-respiratory machine, Ensign" Ravi smiled. "We haven't done physical being-to-being resuscitation unless in an off-site dire emergency for a fair amount of ....... " she hesitated to say 'years' because she didn't want to make it sound too patronising but she just finished with the word "time" instead. Her smile was kind and she was amused by his sense of humour, as always. It wasn't totally in keeping with her usual friendships but she was becoming warmer towards Caj as time went on.

"Time" said Caj wistfully as he rubbed his hand over his face in exhaustion "a concept I am very familiar with...." He lifted himself up onto his elbows and looked around. "I remember being down on the planet with the Captain. Once we had triaged and made safe the survivors in our sector I beamed back up to the station to get myself seen to. Then i think i blacked out a bit."

"Yes, and then you slept a bit." Ravi finished the account of events with a smile.

"So, you had a lot on your mind obviously...... which seems to me to be your constant state of mind. You were talking about the weather program on the planet not being able to do what it IS doing? Do you want to run that by me? They say two heads are better than one and even if all you do is talk about it, that in itself can sometimes help a person clear paths in thoughts."

Caj was looking up into Ravi’s eyes from his laying position on the bios bed. It was a relief to see her safe and well. He nodded his agreement and lay his head back on the pillow. “The storm was not a natural one. It happened way too quickly given the amount of cold to warm fronts and pressure systems. Which means ....which means it must've been the weather satellite. But safety protocols in the satellites mean it’s impossible for that to happen. So either the entire satellite network malfunctioned or it was something else entirely…….you know though as a side note there are easier ways of getting me to bed doctor.” Caj smiled up a Ravi a twinkle in in his eye.

Ravi listened to all of this and at the end she fought to stifle a smirk that wanted to play around her lips. Her very much practised "Doctors' Face" won in the end and she managed to return it to cover her amusement. Or so she thought. She couldn't control any form of sparkle in her own eyes, who could?

"So" she changed the subject back to the weather satellites. "Are you suggesting sabotage?" she went straight to a conspiracy theory because that was the kind of pathway they both were prone to favour.

Caj pursed his lips together a little to stifle a smile, muttered "spoil Sport" then got down to business. He nodded to himself thoughtfully. "What is it the humans say; When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth Watson. Though I am not sure what a Watson is......Do you do house calls Doctor. You know, just for future reference."

"That's an ancient Literary quote and a Watson is the main character's whipping boy. Just in case you really wanted to know?" she grinned at him but then straightened her face.

".....and.... only if you're dying but even then I'd probably transport you direct to Sickbay so I would have the equipment to save you nearby." she answered his question, and then returned to her smile. "You're incorrigible, you know that, don't you!" It was a rhetorical comment rather than a question.

Ravi went back to annotating his PaDD, chuckling softly to herself.
