Mission: The Festival of Unity
Location: Elysia
Timeline: Following the storm

The level of devastation surrounding her was unfathomable. Thalla prayed a silent thanks to whatever gods might be listening that she had been off-planet when the storm had struck. She had just arrived on a shuttle with the emergency response team from Starbase 375, ready to help take care of the injured.

Blunt-force traumas were lined up by the beach. People who had been struck by debris, or thrown by the wind, or who had been trapped when their housing had been torn away. Ripped apart, really, from what Thalla could see.

She looked around for Ravi, who was sure to be coordinating medical operations.

Once the storm had passed, Khalest T. left her wind damaged but still somewhat stable hut to join the rest of the medical staff. Throwing on a lab coat over her maybe too short shorts and tank top, she set to work, examining the first of many patients. She hadn't said a word yet, still processing what had happened. So many gone in such a short amount of time. And on a planet where people came to relax and forget about their troubles for a while. She sighed through her nose and got to work.

Ravi was indeed, as predicted, triaging patients by priority of the seriousness of their injuries or trauma. She had a few assistants but was in dire need of more - preferably ones with high levels of skills and experience if at all possible.

Looking up as Thalla and Khalest T both arrived Ravi was visibly relieved and glad to see them both. "Thank the Prophets you're here" she breathed as they approached.

"How does it look?" asked Thalla. She looked around the area and saw the patients lined up. A makeshift tent had been set up to shield them from the suns, which were shining now that the storm had retreated.

"We don't have communication restored yet, which is good, in that at least we don't have a lot of reports of deaths, Hopefully it may mean there haven't been any but we would be being optimistic to expect that to stay the same as people start to find us here and seek assistance." Ravi confirmed, shaking her head.

"Casualties are starting to arrive (if they're well enough to be mobile)." she went on. "Could you please list them all before it all gets too much to catalogue, assess, list or point out those who seem to be urgent cases so we can compare our priorities?" she asked.

"It's a kind of pre-triage type of thing. I'll come over and cast an confirmatory eye over the priorities with you as soon as I finish getting the tent secured more sturdily and the little bit of equipment we have set up." she added.

Thalla nodded in agreement, and set off to work. She pulled her medical recorder, and started down the line of patients, the Tellaritr nurse Rath in tow.

She scanned each patient, and gave them color codes for triage. Broken limbs were tagged yellow. Head injuries were tagged red. Internal bleeding, impalements or anything else life-threatening got a pink tag, requiring immediate attention.

Ravi returned from securing the shelter and equipment and went straight into following them along the line, picking out the Pink tags first and transporting anyone who's injuries were too severe to keep on the planet surface directly back to the Sickbay on the Starbase. She Liaised with Lt Kensington by Comm Badge which had, to everyone's great relief, come back online at last.

Moving through the injured with Pink tags, she then went through those with red and applied the same priorities, treating those she could help instantly and transporting those she could not. It didn't take long before she was dealing with the yellow tags, broken bones etc. which were a much larger percentage of cases that could be attended to in situ. With Thalla, Khalest T and Rath already working their own ways back up the patients towards her, doing their own minor treatments as they moved along, Ravi was soon feeling much more in control of the numbers they were being presented with.

As the Triaged patients were all being given attention, there had been a steady flow of new incoming wounded but Ravi could see that Thalla had this covered and Khalest T was working with Rath to keep on with those already waiting whilst Thalla triaged the newcomers, raising Ravi's awareness of any pink and red tags as they arrived so that the Team had the situation moving along smoothly.

Ravi met with everyone in a huddle at the end of the line, a few stragglers still getting some minor help but all of the urgents, badly hurts and broken parts patients sorted out or sent up to Sickbay.

"Brilliant Teamwork everyone." the CMO congratulated all the team for all their skills, dedication and smooth, calm execution of the medical emergencies, minor and major. She had a few very proud words to tell them how well they had done and she made sure she spoke to each in turn with her praise and congratulations.

Once done, Ravi suggested that she, Thalla and Khalest T should transport up to Sickbay themselves to get some drink and then help out up there with some of the more seriously hurt that they had sent into the care of Kensington and the rest of the staff on Board. She asked Nurse Rath to stay on the planet to scoop up and/or assist any casualties who might come in later on and then transport herself up when she was sure there weren't any more.

Next Ravi asked the Chief Counsellor to also stay in place because she was nowhere near the end of her own queue of traumatised locals who had lost their homes, weren't sure where their loved ones might be or if those had been transported, then how they were getting on and when they might be able to visit them on the Starbase, and so on.

With all this arranged, Ravi, Thalla and Kalest T were transported back to the Starbase to assist there.
